OUTSIDE THE LINES TOO

I was lucky enough to be asked to contribute to an amazing project. A coloring book curated by Souris Hong, "Outside The Lines Too." I will be signing it along with a bunch of the other contributors at MOCA in LA this weekend. Pretty neat project. Check this link to Installation Magazine article.

Aaron Meza (Crailtap) and I were lucky enough to meet painter, Jules de Balincourt, at his studio in Brooklyn this past weekend. Spike Jonze accompanied to do a short interview/conversation for the Girl Skateboards' de Balincourt series which hits later this week. I'll post photos and video when they are ready. MONK'S MIRROR

TAKING TURNS, 2007

My old friend, and former Art Dumper, Tony Larson, posted this on the Instagram this morning. It reminded me of a great show we had — "Taking Turns" — at the Monster Children Gallery in Sydney, 2007. Here we are culling from hundreds of collaborative mono-prints. The show was myself, Larson and Andy Mueller. Need to do anther one with these, guys.

IN RESIDENCE; PART 2

The opening event for the Oakley In Residence project launched the three week stay of the Oakley house in West Hollywood. The focus was the Girl Art Dump and it's homage to 8 legendary LA skate spots. Lots of folks showed up and tons of media. Here's a vid from director, Kirk Dianda, and a couple of links to help explain the whole thing...

ART DUMP IN RESIDENCE

Finished up an another great project with Oakley Skateboarding. The folks at Oakley have created a physical space, or "pop-up" spot where skateboarders can come and hang out, go to specific events and experience workshops. A building was rented on Melrose in Hollywood and the events are taking place over a 4 week period that started last night with an opening for the Girl Art Dump show called "8 Spots."

Each member of the Art Dump created a homage to a famous or iconic Los Angeles area skate spot... from Lockwood to the Pink Hotel. The results are displayed throughout the space for the following 2 weeks. And be sure to check out the side of the building, we also created a giant mural.

I hope some of you can find time to come out and enjoy the space, the results really are pretty stunning. And if you get up there soon, you may be able to walk away with a free zine/catalog we created specifically for the show. Big thanks to all my Art Dump boys who busted ass on this project; Andy Mueller, Chris Waycott, Carlos M. Gutierrez, Nick Zegel, Nate Hooper, Jeremy Carnahan, Eric Anthony.
